Less than four hours after its appearance, sign #4 was stolen! Other signs have been placed in that location without incident. It is unknown why or by whom, although apparently there has been much speculation among the neighborhood with different people envisioning different kinds of thieves and reasons.
I find it interesting that the phrase "art Is Everywhere" seems to elicit such a response. In some ways, this is not entirely unlike my original Art Is Everywhere project at the I-55 overpass. That was up for less than two days before the cups were reappropriated into "Tone, prom?" Other cup messages have been left there for a full week or even two in that location, although after about a week and a half cups tend to go missing and they become garbled. Maybe it was thought that "Art Is Everywhere" was somehow less relevant or less likely to elicit a negative response from its creator after being reappropriated since it didn't directly address an individual, whereas most of the other messages posted do.
Note to Signholders: If any other signs go missing, please let me know so I can include that information in my documentation.
