While we were in downtown St. Louis, MO, Itchy revealed that he has desperately been wanting to see the Riverfront Floodwall, after hearing of Claude's trip there and seeing the Sun Is Shining music video. Here are some photos we shot while we were there.

Sign Stolen

Less than four hours after its appearance, sign #4 was stolen! Other signs have been placed in that location without incident. It is unknown why or by whom, although apparently there has been much speculation among the neighborhood with different people envisioning different kinds of thieves and reasons.

I find it interesting that the phrase "art Is Everywhere" seems to elicit such a response. In some ways, this is not entirely unlike my original Art Is Everywhere project at the I-55 overpass. That was up for less than two days before the cups were reappropriated into "Tone, prom?" Other cup messages have been left there for a full week or even two in that location, although after about a week and a half cups tend to go missing and they become garbled. Maybe it was thought that "Art Is Everywhere" was somehow less relevant or less likely to elicit a negative response from its creator after being reappropriated since it didn't directly address an individual, whereas most of the other messages posted do.

Note to Signholders: If any other signs go missing, please let me know so I can include that information in my documentation.

Itchy Goes to SLAM

Today, when I went to the St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park, St. Louis, MO to sketch from The Mourners exhibit, Itchy tagged along. Here are some photos of him sneaking up on the institution with an Art Is Everywhere sign. Itchy told me that it is his intent to subversively take a sign with him and photograph it in as many different art situations as possible.

Mascot 1: Phffff aka Itchy

Art Is Everywhere just got its first mascot! Our first mascot is Phffff, an unusual creature handmade by aj aka Jane Wang from wool socks which were felted, cut, sewn, and stuffed, along with one original felt eyeball. Phffff is lovingly known by his friends as Itchy and arrived in the mail today to meet Claude and to become a mascot for this project.
